I was not required to do overnight stays. I found the reimbursement of the expenses to somewhat of a hassle. I did not like having to front expense money from my own pocket and wait for the next pay period to get reimbursed. The company did not offer me a credit card, at that time. I was using a credit card of my own and thought that was a good idea at the time because I could earn points and rewards — the thing I didn’t realize was that I was responsible for transferring the expense reimbursement to my credit card balance. Not like I have a bookkeeper or anything to do that, right?!? It became a trap in a way — I was getting cash for mileage on my car and spending that as “found money” and also using my personal credit card for business expenses but then not paying down that balance at the end of the month. It was not smart of me. The paperwork was a hassle, but I was organized. Also, I am honest and was not tempted to do any “expense scams.” Thanks for letting me share my story.
